Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays!
Only only three days til Christmas day! Most have asked and been asked the question of the moment... Are you all ready for the holidays?
I purchased a Book a few years back titled "Living Your Yoga." Thanks to this book, my continued yoga practice and my amazing yogi teachers and friends, I am ready! My gifts are not wrapped, some not even bought or conceived of yet. It has been a full month, and because I feel like my new year begins in September, I will say a year already with a lot of blessings and thankfully only a few small blessons. My tree is up, not straight yet or decorated but we will get there. I will spare you all of the reasons and details of my tardiness this year. I would like to share why, in spite of it all I am ready.
My yoga practice has taught me that if I take the present moment as the only present necessary that I do have all I need. If right now is not so great it will be over very soon and if right now is the most amazing time of my life it will be over very soon! I have learned to breath deeply and remember to exhale, so important in yoga class and in life. No I have not attained enlightenment; My husband, children and friends will all tell you that I have have my moments; those moments that I get caught riding the wild horse upstairs (my mind). The great thing is my yoga practice has taught me to jump off, breath only this moment in, (insert long slow breath here) exhale and let this moment go (complete breath out here), good or bad. If we hold on to what was we never get to fully experience what is! So whether you think you are 'ready' or not, the holidays will come and we all get to choose how we experience them. We can do the... should have, would have, could have, can't wait to, want why can't I, I can't wait too, ride on the wild horse or we can choose differently. I wish you all many blessed moments of presence over the holidays and through out the New Year. I dare to even lay down the camera or video recorder for a bit and fully appreciate what is right now. I love pictures don't get me wrong but life can look even better without lenses. Be ready for a wonderful Christmas.
In closing I would like to share a sweet reminder that came to me from my daughter bedroom wall this morning "The best things in life aren't things." Peace, Love and Laughter from My family and the Pictou County Yoga family to you and yours! Much love , Leanne
