One of the of the key teachings of yoga is learning to become present to yourself and to your practice, allowing distraction and wandering of the mind to give way to the only time that is guaranteed......now. I often play out this little trick near the end of class as I glance toward my empty wrist, stating that we must be nearing the close and ask the gang…”what time is it” ? NOW!! they have learned to respond. Whether it’s time on the mat or the smile of child, or a welcome, warm embrace, these moments are precious times which can never be recreated in their purest experience, once they pass. Yoga helps us sense, appreciate and drink in opportunities such as this, both on and off the mat.
